New for 2013/14 NANO IM12 T46 Tenkara Rod
NANO Tenkara Rod 3.6m, 7 sections ~ Tenkara is a Japanese traditional way of fly fishing, Tenkara originated several hundred years ago in the high-gradient streams flowing through the mountains of Japan. Appreciated for its simple elegance and lightweight approach, Tenkara utilizes only the essential elements of fly fishing—a rod, a line, and a fly—and completely bypasses the need for a reel.
Applying Carbon Nanotube, or CNT technology creates a stronger resin distribution system, this helps eliminate any weakness in the blank to create rods with significantly increased strength and improved impact resistance, without adding any significant weight to the blank.
The resulting rods are light, smooth and ultra-strong - a 60% increase in flexural strength and a 30% increase to impact resistance - without any effect on the superb casting performance you come to expect from all our fly rods
Because material is stronger, and less material is required and thus a rod can be lighter than an equivalent carbon fibre model. Weight savings of up to 30% are possible. There are two key advantages provided by silica Nano spheres. First is the even distribution of the Nano spheres throughout the resin providing equality of strength throughout the blank leading to crisp and clean rod actions. The second advantage is that silica Nano spheres resist compression forces better than any other known material. This results in a fishing rod that is at least 60% stronger than a standard carbon fibre rod without interfering with the action. The improved compression characteristic also greatly improves impact resistance and durability.
