the bream fishing season is in full swing. You don't need specialised equipment; your trout gear will suffice. Utilise your 5 or 6 weight trout rods paired with either a floating line or a sink tip line. Stick with your usual trout leader, but consider using a 2x or 3x leader of nine to twelve feet for extra strength, which is beneficial when trying to keep bream from diving into cover. If you need more length, simply add tippet to your leader. Polaroid sunglasses will be invaluable in spotting fish among submerged structures.

**Choosing the Right Flies**

While standard trout flies like woolly buggers and Mrs. Simpson can catch bream, certain flies are better suited for this species. Crazy Charlies, particularly in orange or pink, mimic shrimp effectively. Clousers, another excellent choice, imitate baitfish and work well in plain white, olive and white, or chartreuse and white. Bream often prefer to strike at stationary flies, so incorporating pauses into your retrieve can significantly increase your chances of a successful catch.

**Best Locations for Bream Fishing**

Bream thrive in estuarine environments with brackish water. While having a boat offers broader access, there are excellent shore-based opportunities too. The area around the river's mouth and the top boat ramp provides good access for anglers on foot. The jetty at the top boat ramp is particularly productive, and there are ample fishing spots around the river mouth. If you have a boat, target rock faces and submerged structures, casting close to these areas since bream typically remain near their snags.

Australia boasts numerous prime locations for bream fishing, catering to both novice and experienced anglers. Here are some of the best spots:
